What is Light Net?

Nature of work

Light Net, the short name for Light Network for Planetary Regeneration and Human Development, Inc., is a non-stock, non-profit and non-political (meaning not connected with any political groups) organization, composed primarily of spiritually minded people, students of the Ageless Wisdom and men and women of goodwill who responded to the 'spiritual call' of the time and is working in unison to help humanity according to its present needs. It is bonded by a common vision and aspiration to serve humanity in the best possible ways within its capability.

The use of the term "spiritual" here does not, in any way, connote religion or any other system that promotes dreamy idealism, impractical and worn-out proselytizing, passive kindness or fuzzy brotherhood. Its work and program is practical and relevant. Its core values and philosophical framework are based based on the Ageless Wisdom, making it dynamic, revolutionary and inclusive.

One of its fundamental premise is that the basic building block of the universe is energy. All world events are but the effects of the interaction of these energies. Therefore Light Net believes that the ultimate solution to humanity's problems lie in the realm of causes- the realm of energies.

The world has undergone rapid and radical changes since the 1980s in the realms of politics, economics, science and technology, culture and so on. Each one of these apects of human life are converging and interconnecting with each passing day. National boundaries are shrinking and local concerns are becoming global. These global fusing-in and consolidation are adding complexities to humanity's problems but at the same time, offering opportunities as well. Local and national problems, which of long ago can simply be addressed and be solved locally, are becoming more rooted and tied in with international issues and can only be solved at that level. The challenge would be how to solve these problems at the root- at the global levels, without neglecting immediate local concerns and issues.

One will ask why we (and all similar organizations and groups) are putting humanity's problems at our hands? Is it not the task of governments? The simple answer: But if not us, who will?! It is really a paradox but it is a known fact through human history that without the selfless efforts of civil society, non-governmental organizations, consumer and environmental activists, labor unionists, various fraternal and religious groups, and most of all, the unorganized sector- the idealists, 'utopians', 'dreamers' and men and women of goodwill, humanity will not be experiencing all the progress he has today from the civil liberties it is enjoying, to the passing of environmental protection laws , to the fruits of science and technology today. Martin Luther King Jr, Mahatma Gandhi, Tesla and the rests were not public officials!

Since most of the humanity's problems today are rooted globally, selfless groups and the men and women of goodwill from different nations can easily fuse together, combine resources, work in unison to address common problems. A solution to a common problem will benefit not only one but every nations with similar concerns. This is where the opportunity presents itself for humanity, that through the collective and cooperative use of Goodwill, which is the energy of love-in-action, we can help each other build a truly progressive and peaceful society (and planet). Thus, Light Net recognizes the need to work in cooperation and in alliance with international groups working towards the same direction.

The overall strategy of Light Net to contribute, in its own way, to Planetary regeneration is two-fold, both on the realm of causes:

1. to help work on anchoring the energies of light and goodwill to the consciousness of humanity through the use of the power of thought; and

2. to facilitate this process through the mobilization of active goodwill in moulding public opinion and of addressing immediate local concerns or problems at its roots.

Organization

Light Net is a legitimate non-stock, non-profit organization incorporated under Philippine laws, recognized by the state. It is also accredited with other government regulating agencies that is necessary for the legal conduct of its operations.

By nature, it is not conceptualized as a grassroot or membership-based organization that recruits or expands membership. There are no dues and fees. It is objective-oriented and project-driven. It encourages spiritually-minded people and men and women of goodwill to volunteer for the conduct of its various programmes and service activities. Its work is being coordinated by a coordinating group that set the direction for the service activities and administer its day to day business.

Light Net is very new and old at the same time. It was formally organized in the year 2000, harnessing the exceptional energy of that year for group work. But it has started far back in 1995 simply as a quarterly newsletter that promoted the use of the Great Invocation and active Goodwill in Metro Manila, Philippines. It also featured relevant local issues. It was also at that time (1995) that it began its cooperative work with the Ageless Wisdom Library in Mandaluyong city, Philippines. Two years after, the suceeding issues of the newsletter was published in the www of the internet in lieu of the printed version. Angelfire and Geocities hosted the issues. Light Net has always been composed (since the time of its inception until now) of dynamic, idealistic and mostly young group that believes that inspite of the prevailing atmosphere of cynicism and despair, there is always hope for human betterment.

It is old in the sense that the concepts and philosphical framework that it uses are as old as civilization itself. Its framework, concepts and core values are based on the Ageless wisdom handed down from remote times but is widely accepted by most major world religions and philosophical systems.

Light Net remains an independent organization until today. However, it cooperates with the Ageless Wisdom Library, Inc. and maintains friendly relations with similar groups and organizations. It also cooperates with the world-wide program of the World Goodwill, a NY based group and an accredited UN non-governmental organization. Many of our materials come from World Goodwill publications.

Main Objectives of Light Net

As stated in its charter, the main purpose for the group’s existence is:

“To help bring about the spiritual regeneration of the planet by raising the level of human consciousness and transforming the mental and spiritual climate of the planet to that of truth, justice, sharing, cooperation and selflessness through the use of the power of thought and divine invocation, the mobilization of the energy of goodwill and the undertaking of projects that will improve the quality of human life and of the physical environment.”

Inspiration and Vision of Light Net

The formation of Light Net is borne out of the response by its founding group to the inner conviction and inspiration evoked by the challenge and call made by a Tibetan Spiritual Teacher to his group of students:

“Now is the need and the demand… to sacrifice all (we) have to the helping of humanity. I offer you opportunity and I tell you that groups of students working in unison and with deep and unfaltering love for each other can achieve significant results.” (DK)

Core Values

The following core values, adopted from World Goodwill’s “Values to Live By”, serve as the suggested guide in the conduct of the group’s activities, policies and decision-making and the manner of relationship between its trustees, servers and volunteers and with those outside the group., especially the people being served:

A Love of Truth – essential for a just, inclusive and progressive society;

A Sense of Justice – recognition of the rights and needs of all;

A Spirit of Cooperation -- based on active goodwill and the principle of right human relationships;

A Sense of Personal Responsibility – for group, community and national affairs;

Serving the Common Good – through the sacrifice of selfishness. Only what is good for all is good for each one.

Outline of Light Net’s Basic Philosophical Framework

To fully appreciate Light Net’s objectives and methodologies, It is important tto understand certain basic concepts and framework which formed the basis of its service activities. These are not to be treated as dogma but only as tentative working hypothesis or postulates. The truth will ultimately be discovered at the subjective levels by the person himself.

1. There exists a basic intelligence in the universe to whom we give the name of God.

2. There is a divine evolutionary Plan in the universe- the motivating power of which is Love. This Plan is not something vague, or fuzzy religious ‘grand plan’ that is unreachable to humans. It is practical, workable and can be comprehended, at least parts of it and one’s role in it, through the disciplined use of the mind and awakened intuition. Service to the Plan is the prime responsibility of all spiritually minded people and disciples.

3. There is a great individuality called by Christians the Christ- The World Teacher- who came to Earth and embodied love so that we could understand that love and intelligence are effects of the purpose, the will and Plan of God. His appearance is imminent.

4. The truth that only through humanity itself can the divine Plan work out.

5. That humanity, together with the physical environment and wildlife and other natural elements comprise the dynamic body of a great living entity we call our planet, Earth. In fact everything lives and is conscious with differing degrees of awareness.

6. Man is not simply matter but an evolving soul- the vehicle of the Spirit, a reflection of the Divine.

7. Humans have the power, through focused, united invocation and the scientific use of thought to affect world events.

8. A world server is committed to the spiritual evolution and progress of humanity more than to himself. The term “spiritual” does not connote religion, mysticism or systems that promote passive kindness or fuzzy brotherhood but embodies all the relevant aspects of human existence, such as society, economics, public life, science and technology, etc..

9. There are spiritual values or conducts that are common to all faiths and philosophical systems that represents the highest good of humanity, which can serve as a basis to guide people in making right decisions and relationships, for bringing order to groups and as a guide in dealing with other people fairly. While it is difficult to standardize the concept of right and wrong and spiritual values which may be a matter of opinion based on culture and, therefore, debatable. But there are values in human life that are basic to the general welfare of all people, regardless of culture, religions, faith or philosophical systems.

10. There is a body of knowledge or philosophical system that can be relied upon as a reality framework in performing service or in resolving conflicts of interpretation in the performance of such service, in the absence of direct knowledge of truth or an existing acceptable alternative reality framework.

The Virtual Center

We take the information age seriously. We believe that the internet technology is one of the initial stages and physical manifestation of the subjective and telepathic interconnections that will be happening in the future between human beings according to the Divine Plan for humanity. This is becoming evident as technology advances and more and more transactions are being done in the web, not just commerce but also education, medical consultations and counsellings, activism, religious worship, among other things. They speak too often of the "New economy", why cant we speak of the "New Spirituality" in the information age!

We want to be one of the pioneers in the Philippines to operate a serious group or non-governmental organization purely from a Virtual Center like this. Some says it's a great risk- but we will take the challenge. On the practical side the cost of renting and operating an offline, land center is quite prohibitive. The fund can be used instead to finance the various projects and service activities of Light Net. However, all other community projects, as well as important group meetings, peace initiatives and environmental advocacies will be held on some land venue to be announced through this Center. In this way we can truly work and focus on the various important tasks at hand without the usual bureaucracy and personality differences present in similar land Centers.

A small administrative nerve center is just being maintained to take care of day-to-day tasks not possible through the web, such as accounting, ducuments processing and storage of literatures and logistics, and for conducting important face to face meetings. All the other meetings, group studies and meditations, chats, seminars can be well conducted online, in this Virtual Center. More technological additions and enhancements will be added to the Center soon to make all this possible.

The Great Invocation

The Great Invocation is central to the philosophical framework and service program of Light Net. It embodies the ideals of the group, its core values as well as its main objectives. Since Light Net believes in the power of thought and of divine invocation, the Great Invocation represents the ideal prayer for humanity to achieve spiritual regeneration. Numerous materials can be found elsewhere in this Center describing and explaining the origins, uses and value of this world prayer.

THE GREAT INVOCATION

From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.

From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men -
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

"The above Invocation or Prayer does not belong to any person or group but to all humanity. The beauty and the strength of this invocation lies in its simplicity, and its expression of certain central truths which all men, innately and normally accept- the truth of the existence of a basic Intelligence to Whom we vaguely give the name of God; the truth that behind all outer seeming, the motivating power of the universe is Love; the truth that a great Individuality came to Earth, called by Christians, the Christ, and embodied that love so that we could understand; the truth that both love and intelligence are effects of what is called Will-of-God; and finally the self-evident truth that only through humanity itself can the Divine Plan work out."
